66Thumbnail Sketches
Using directions from this Hub http://hubpages.com/_l6f64eotqm13/hub/10-invention-ideas by Fossfor I set to work making a posterboard full of thumbnail sketches. Much to my dismay (but not to my surprise) I couldn't get good photos of the ones I did in pencil on glossy posterboard. And I don't have a scanner.
So I started over with pen and ink last night, and photographed them by daylight.
It is surprising to me that so many diverse images came to my mind. And in the long run, a thumbnail sketch saves time, because if a composition is not going to work it's better to find out in the postcard sized image rather than halfway through a 4' x 6' painting.
Some of these I like just as they are and may use them for postcards to sell in my etsy store. Others I'd like better with a colored background, so maybe a watercolor wash with marker drawing over it. Others I'd like to enlarge into big paintings or monoprints or even eraser stamps. Some I didn't like at all, but they could morph into something later.
