Fish Take Over SLO

I happened upon these artful fish in San Luis Obispo CA a few years back. It seemed a shame not to share them.

Update: Since this happened, I've been looking for similar art installations everywhere. It's a grand idea I think. I've seen angels in theĀ  Los Angeles area and giant hearts in Fullerton. Now I have the hankering to get in on one. My friend told me about one and we were going to do mosaics but we didn't find out about it soon enough. So I'm keeping my eyes peeled for the next opportunity.

I posted two videos below of the hearts in Fullerton CA. I haven't been able to find a video of the angels in Los Angeles county, so if you are reading this and have a link to what that was all about please share it with my readers. Also if anyone has a list that shows upcoming art installations of this sort, I'd love to see it. Usually after the artists donate the pieces, they are auctioned off to raise money for a good cause. It increases awareness that art is indeed live and well, and helps with tourism and helps those downtown tourist areas get some much needed love and attention.

Nice shots. Were they all taken at the Mission?

I remember a few were stolen, which seemed so odd for SLO. They had pigs in Seattle, and I never remember there being an issue with vandalism or theft there. I believe all of the fish were decorated by local artists and sold for charity. True? It was so fun to go around San Luis and see them! Thanks for posting the pics!!

I think a few were also around Marsh and Higuera. And I think Robin is right about the local artists for charity.
