New Unicycles
Recently I was thinking of buying a new unicycle. To my delight they are much cheaper than when I bought one in the 70's. Back then, they were a novelty item, and cost as much as a bicycle. Stores usually had to special order them.
Well, happily, I met a bunch of current unicyclists, and now unicycles are made more along the lines of mountain bikes, with mountain bike components, and the price is about 1/3 of what it was.
The circus suppliers are still out there and charging high prices, but every unicyclist I talked to got theirs on EBAY.
As for my old unicycle, my ex had discombobulated it to put the pedals on his unicycle. Mine was an off brand called a Penguin. And when someone helped me move to Anaheim, the truck was full and my poor unicycle (or what was left of it) got chucked in the trash.
So I'm saving to get another one.

Funny to hear that Unicycles used to cost as much as a regular bike. How did they justify that? Great Hub, thanks for the insight.

It is difficult enough to ride a two wheeler, I couldn't imagine how difficult it must be to ride a unicycle.....JIMMY
